I am an amateur, non-competitive endurance athlete. I primarily train for marathons, but I’ve done a couple of sprint distances triathlons, and hope to train for an Ironman someday soon.
I have struggled with disordered eating for most of my life, and over the past few years, those unhealthy behaviors escalated into a full-blown, diagnosed eating disorder. In the spring of 2014, I finally sought treatment, and completed six weeks in a partial hospitalization program.
Not every day in recovery is easy, but I know I am in a better place than I was a year ago, or even four years ago. This blog serves as an outlet for some of my thoughts on feminism, body image, vegan & vegetarians with ED, and changing my attitude toward exercise in order to maintain an athlete’s lifestyle while in recovery.
